Springfield blanks Waseca, Wabasso wins

Springfield 10, Waseca 0

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield's Isaac Kirschstein pitched five innings giving up two hits and striking out six in a win against Waseca Monday.

Springfield's Jacob Menage went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Carter Erickson went 2-for-3 with four RBI and Shawn Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double.

Springfield (7-2 overall) will host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart today.

Wabasso 5, MVL 3

WABASSO Wabasso defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in a Tomahawk Conference baseball game Monday.

Wabasso's Neil Eichten was the winning pitcher, pitching six innings, giving up six hits, four walks and striking out five. Blake Altermatt went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Caleb Salfer went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

MVL's Nick Dewanz took the loss pitching six innings, giving up eight hits, no walks and striking out seven. Justin Bruns went 2-for-4 with a single and double and two RBI. DeAndre Parker went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

MVL will play at Comfrey-Cedar Mountain Thursday.

Wabasso (4-2 overall, 3-2 in conference) will travel to Sleepy Eye St. Mary's today.

Fairmont 5, New Ulm 1

FAIRMONT - Fairmont defeated New Ulm in a South Central Conference baseball game Monday.

New Ulm's Chase Meyer took the loss pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up six hits, three earned runs and striking out two. Cole Dulas went 2-for-3 and Tanner Kluis went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

New Ulm (7-3 overall, 4-1 in conference) will travel to Waseca Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 7, GFW 2

Sleepy Eye 6, GFW 4

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Tomahawk Conference baseball Monday.

John Mangen earned the win in the first game, allowing eight hits in seven innings. He struck out nine.

Marc Riederer earned the win in relief in the second game.

Mangen was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Austin Fischer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the first game for Sleepy Eye.

Kolton Piegeon was 1-for-2 for GFW.

In the second game, Riederer had two RBIs and a run and Brandon Polesky had a double for the Indians.

Sleepy Eye (4-3, 2-2) is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's for a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
