St. Mary’s shuts down Blue Earth Area, 10-0

SLEEPY EYE - David Surprenant tossed a one-hit shutout as Sleepy Eye St. Mary's rolled to a 10-0 victory over visiting Blue Earth Area.

Surprenant allowed just one hit, but did walk five batters while striking out three.

Jordan Anderson had a pair of hits and two RBI in for St. Mary's, while Sean Mathiowetz added a pair of hits and one run batted in.

St. Mary's improves to 4-0 overall and will play at 7 p.m. today at Wabasso.

Knights defeat Madelia-Truman in Valley Conference softball

Madelia-Truman 2 softball

MADELIA -Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Madelia-Truman Monday in nonconference prep softball.

Sammi Sorenson was the winning pitcher, going the distance and striking out 13 batters.

Melody Colon was 1-for-2 and she had a two-run double for Madelia-Truman.

Madelia-Truman (2-4) hosts Nicollet today in a Valley Conference match up.

Springfield 17, RRC 1

Springfield 4, Windom 1

WINDOM - Springfield swept a pair of nonconference softball games Monday in convincing fashion.

Molly Dunn earned the win over Red Rock Central. she struck out six and allowed only three hits.

Sonja Fiedler had four hits, a run and four RBI and Becky Roiger had two doubles and four RBI to lead the Tigers' offense.

In the second game, Jenny Platz earned the win, allowing two hits in seven innings.

Fiedler?(2-for-4) and Roiger (3-for-3, three RBI) again keyed the offense for Springfield. Springfield (3-0) hosts Sleepy Eye at 7 p.m. tonight.
