Robert “Bobby” Bastian

Robert "Bobby" Bastian, 72, of New Ulm died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 19, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Robert is survived by his sisters, Elaine Boynton of Portland, Oregon, Joan (Gene) Fuchs of Morgan, Bernice Bastian, Dorothy Siekmann, and Diane Bastian, all of Columbia Heights; brothers, Stanley (Judy) Bastian of New Ulm, Charles (Donna) Bastian of Plymouth, Patrick Bastian of Mankato, Donald Bastian of New Ulm, David Bastian of Garrison; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a sister, Rita Bastian.

Robert Joseph Bastian was born May 21, 1940 in New Ulm to William and Bertha (Kokesch) Bastian. He attended St. Andrew's Catholic Grade School in Fairfax. Robert was employed as a farm worker with area farmers, Hard Drives in Winona, Alumacraft in St. Peter and then at MRCI in New Ulm.
