Roland “Rollie” Dauer

HANSKA - Roland "Rollie" Dauer, 80, of Hanska, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

A private family service will be held Saturday, April 13 with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Roland is survived by his wife, Elaine Dauer of Hanska; a daughter, Colleen Dauer of New Ulm; sons, Rodney (Jan) Dauer of Hutchinson, Steve (Dina) Dauer of Rochester; grandchildren, Jamie and Nicole; and by a brother, Jim (Dorothy) Dauer of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Russell Dauer; sisters, Aurelia Larson, Gertrude Sonnickson; and by a brother, Florian Dauer.

Roland Peter Dauer was born May 31, 1932 in Searles to Hugo and Emily (Seifert) Dauer. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955. Roland was united in marriage to Elaine Neidecker on August 29, 1956 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County. He was employed at 3M in New Ulm for 27 years, retiring in June, 1997.

Roland enjoyed outdoor activities, old time music and fun times with family and friends. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia, American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm and the Brown County DAV Chapter.
