Age 88, died March 25, 2013, at Castle Ridge Care Center, Eden Prairie.

25, 1925. Grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from Central HS, married Harrison Dickey in 1947. As an Army family, they lived twice in Germany and in several states before settling in New Ulm in 1964, where Shirley lived until 2006. A woman of many interests and talents, she helped start New Ulm's first recycling center and was active in UCC church activities, Crescendo Club, and Wanda Gag House Assn. She was a prize-winning quilter, Literacy Advance tutor, and advocate for Ofc of Ombudsman for Older Minnesotans. She worked at Martin Luther College 1966-90. Preceded in death by parents; husband Harrison; son Thomas; brothers Everett, Rodney, & Richard.

Survived by brother Vernon; sisters-in-law Ramona & Helen, who were like sisters to her; daughter Sharon Grimes (Fred Leverentz); son Gene (Deborah) Dickey; grandsons Jason (Julie) Dickey, Matthew (Sarah) Dickey, & Christopher Dickey; many nieces & nephews.

Memorial service Mon.,

April 8, 1 PM, Cremation Society of MN Edina Chapel, 7110 France Ave. S. (952-924-4100).

Visitation at 12 Noon. Memorials to NU UCC, Presbyterian Homes Fdn, Methodist Hospital Hospice or donor's favorite charity.
