SLEEPY?EYE - Frieda C. Sellner, age 100, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on March 8, 2013, at Divine Providence Community Home.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Service will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Wednesday, March 13, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, MN.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Frieda C. Sellner was born on April 23, 1912 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of John and Minnie (Seidl) Haala. She grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye. Frieda married Roman Sellner on June 7, 1932 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. From the age of 9 years old to her retirement at the age of 85, Frieda helped out many families, cooked for many events and organizations, held many jobs within the community and was always willing to help out with the grandchildren. Known as "The White Tornado" by her family, she had a strong work ethic. She was also known by her neighbors as "Speedy Freedy." She loved old time music, dancing, concertina music and harmonizing to any song. She had a great sense of humor, Frieda would laugh at any joke even if she did not quite get it. Frieda is survived by her children, Marion Bertrand of Sleepy Eye, Marlyn (Judy) Sellner of New Ulm, Carol Ann (David) Drown of Marshall; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lillian Stimpert of Sleepy Eye.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roman on Oct. 14, 1986; brothers, Leo Haala, Larry Haala, Luverne Haala who died in infancy; sisters, Eleanor Kretsch, Adeline Tauer; son-in-law, Robert Bertrand; and grandson-in-law, Laverne "Trixie" Heiderscheidt.
