NEW?ULM - The Lind House Association is hosting a coffee party to advocate for the arts with Minnesota House Rep. Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska)?on Friday, March 1 at 9:30 a.m. at the John Lind House, 622 Center Street, New Ulm.
Torkelson has served on the Minnesota House Legacy Funding Committee since its inception. Arts funding has a powerful impact on the community.
Arts Legacy Funding enabled the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council in FY 2012 to award 160 grants which totaled $323,547. In District 16, $25,270 was awarded from July to December 2012. In addition, 13 area students received a $300 Youth Scholarship through the Arts and Cultural Heritage funds.
