Sleepy Eye girls defeat Mustangs

Sleepy Eye 51, BLHS 34

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball match-up Friday.

Claire Krumbach led Sleepy Eye with 16 points and 13 rebounds and seven blocks. Justine Gonzalez added 13 points. Josie Schieffert scored 12 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had eight blocks.

For BLHS, Michelle Melsha scored 15 points.

BLHS (2-19 overall, 1-15 in conference) will play at Sleepy Eye Thursday.

Sleepy Eye (7-17 overall, 3-13 in conference) will host Madelia Tuesday.

Wabasso 55, CMC 50

COMFREY - Kimberly Frank led the way for the Wabasso Rabbits, scoring 14 points Friday in a Tomahawk Conference game against Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

Chelsea Guetter and Larissa Rohlik of Wabasso each scored 11 points.

CMC's Haley Weidman scored 19 points with nine rebounds. Andrea Ochs scored 13 points and Brianna Lund added 11 points and eight rebounds.

CMC (13-10 overall, 9-7 in conference) will host St. James Monday.

Wabasso will play the winner of Ellsworth and Hills-Beaver Creek Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Section 3A playoffs at Worthington High School.

Springfield 71, Truman 35

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield's Joeli Arnoldi scored 18 points in a win against Truman Friday in a non-conference basketball game.

Arnoldi also had six rebounds and four assists. Kasey Kretsch scored 13 points and six assists while Jordan Salonek added 13 points six rebounds and five assists.

Truman's Brooke McDonald scored 10 points.

Springfield (13-10 overall, 9-7 in conference) will travel to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Tuesday.

St. Clair 67, St. Mary's 59

ST. CLAIR - Chelsea Schull led the St. Clair Cyclones to victory over Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Friday in a non-conference girls basketball match-up.

Schull scored 26 points and had eight assists. Katelyn Weber also scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds.

Maddy Helget scored 26 points to lead St. Mary's. Larissa Helget and Devyn Meyer each scored nine points.

St. Mary's (15-7 overall) will host Lake Crystal-Welcome-Memorial Monday.
