GAYLORD - After receiving a report of improper iPad usage/conduct last week, Sibley East Junior High School staff collected and inspected all eighth-grade iPads.
"In order to be proactive and act in the best interest of all students...this is being done to determine the facts, nature, and extent of issues related to this report," read a message sent home with all students from Sibley East Junior High School Principal Steve Harter last Thursday (Feb. 7).
The note stated that teachers will utilize other methods to distribute and collect student work until the iPads are returned.
Harter said he hoped the iPads would be returned to students by Wednesday at the latest and that he could not comment further on the issue due to student data confidentiality. He referred to the Gaylord Police Department for more information.
Gaylord Police Chief Ken Mueller said inappropriate material was found on a student's iPad, that the investigation is complete, and no criminal charges are pending.
