PREP GIRLS BASKETBAL: Cougars defeat Sleepy Eye girls

CM/C 45, Sleepy Eye 41

SLEEPY EYE - Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Sleepy Eye in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball Monday night.

Haley Weidman led the Cougars with 16 points and Allison Madsen finished with 11 points.

Josie Schieffert led the Indians with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Claire Krumbach had five points and 13 rebounds.

CM/C (13-6, 9-4) hosts Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City tonight and Sleepy Eye (6-15, 2-11) is at New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.

Wabasso 69, BLHS 39

HECTOR - Wabasso defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball Monday.

Michelle Melsha led the Mustangs with 11 points and Mara Olinger and Ashley Tintes each scored 10 points.

Chelsey Guetter led Wabasso with 18 points and Desi Kramer had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ellen Franta finished with 11 points for the Rabbits.

The win moves Wabasso into sole possession of first place in the Tomahawk Conference after Minnesota Valley Lutheran lost to Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Monday night.

BLHS (1-16, 0-12) hosts Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Thursday and Wabasso (19-2, 12-1) hosts Windom Area tonight.

St. Mary's 60, MVL 58

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's downed Minnesota Valley Lutheran Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.

Maddy Helget led the Knights, scoring 25 points and dishing out three assists. Jessica Schmitz scored nine points and had six rebounds. Kenzie Schutz and Devyn Meyer each sored eight points for St. Mary's.

Mariah Schoof and Anna Munsen each scored 13 points for the Chargers and Sarah Burk scored 12 points.

St. Mary's (12-7, 8-5) hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (12-6, 8-4) Thursday night.

MVL (18-3, 13-2) travels to Wabasso (19-2) Friday night.

Sibley East 57, New Ulm Cathedral 36

ARLINGTON - Sibley East defeated New Ulm Cathedral Monday night in a non-conference girls basketball game.

Kelli Martens and Jordan Thomes each scored 11 points for the Wolverines. Martens added three rebounds, two steals and three assists.

Karlee Pfaff scored 10 points for the Greyhounds.

Sibley East (8-12, 2-8) travels to Henderson Thursday night to play LeSueur-Henderson.

New Ulm Cathedral (12-7, 8-5) hosts Sleepy Eye Friday night.

Springfield 66, GFW 53

FAIRFAX - Springfield defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Halley Busse scored 17 points, Eve Bleick scored 14 points and Lexi Jensen scored 13 points for GFW.

Jordan Salonek scored 15 and Joeli Arnoldi scored 13 points for the Tigers. Salonek had eight rebounds and five assists.

GFW (3-16, 1-13) travels to St. James Thursday night. Springfield (11-9, 8-6) travels to Hector to play Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday.
