Hando, Jeanette E.

(nee Backer) 77, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2013. Jeanette is survived by her loving husband, Orv, of 52 years, her sons Timothy (Greta) Hando and Thomas (Merrill) Hando and four cherished grandchildren: Jefferson, Lauren, Annika and Matthew. She is also survived by her brother Bruce (Virginia) Backer and many other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil D. and Erna Backer Rosenberg (nee Albrecht).

Jeanette was born in New Ulm, MN on August 17, 1935. She received a B.S. in Education from Martin Luther College in 1957. She also studied Music at Alverno College. She taught at St. Paul's Lutheran, Norfolk, NE (3rd grade) and at the following schools in Milwaukee: St. Marcus Lutheran (3rd-5th grade), Garden Homes Lutheran (kindergarten), Fairview Lutheran (kindergarten) and Milwaukee Lutheran Teachers College (piano instructor). She also conducted private piano lessons in her home for many years.

During her life, she was an active member at St. Paul's Lutheran in New Ulm, Good Shepherd's Lutheran in West Allis and Martin Luther Church and School in Oshkosh. She was a member of the Milwaukee Music Teachers Association and the Lutheran Women's Mission Society and she was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The family wishes to thank the health care workers at Mercy Medical Center, Caring Connections Home Health Services, and the Affinity Visiting Nurses, Hospice Services for their dedication and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Jeanette to your favorite charity, or to one of the following institutions, Martin Luther School in Oshkosh, Martin Luther College, Wisconsin Lutheran College, or the American Cancer Society, is appreciated.

A Memorial Service will take place at Martin Luther Church, in Oshkosh, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20th, with a luncheon at the church to follow. Private interment at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh, WI.
