The Journal

NEW ULM - An unidentified Lafayette teen drove his car into Lake Hanska near the Godahl Landing in Albin Township on Friday.

The teen drove east into an area of thin ice from a landing known as Geiger Point, near Godahl Landing. The area was marked with signs warning of thin ice, due to an aeration system. The teen was able to walk to a nearby fish house for assistance. The occupants of the fish house administered first aid and called 911. The Brown County Sherif's Office, Hanska Fire Department, Madelia Ambulance Service and the Minnesota DNR Conservation Officer responded to the scene.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was transported by Madelia ambulance to the New Ulm Medical Center. He was examined and released with no apparent injury. The incident is under investigation.
