L. Mae Van Ness Romaine died surrounded by family on Sunday, January 20, her 62nd wedding anniversary.
Mae was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on May 13, 1928 to Alfred E. and Theresa (Knaus) Van Ness.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Romaine, Sun City West, Arizona; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Romaine, Jr. and Deanne of New Ulm, Minnesota, Jeff Romaine of Sun City West, Arizona; William and Kathryn Romaine of Maineville, Ohio; and Richard and Susanne Romaine of Hamilton, Virginia; grandchildren, Heather, Anthony, Thomas, Katie, Bryan and Clare and great-grandchildren, Prescott and Madelyn.
Mae grew up in New Brunswick, New Jersey, graduating from New Brunswick High School and Rider College. She and Tom raised her 4 boys in Piscataway Township, New Jersey and Wayzata, Minnesota before settling in Sun City West, Arizona in retirement. She was active in the Sun City West Rhythm Tappers, loved to bowl and get together with "The Club", and enjoyed time at the Jersey Shore.
A mass celebrating Mae's life will be said on Wednesday, January 30, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 14818 West Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West, Arizona. The family encourages memorials to the donor's favorite charity in Mae's name.
