LAFAYETTE - Lloyd Clobes, 87, of Lafayette died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette with Father Anthony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Lafayette American Legion Post #300 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 8-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lloyd is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Douglas L. Clobes of Minneapolis, Allan J. and Joan Clobes of Lafayette; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Hauge of Minneapolis, Beverly and Wayne Bakke of LaSalle, Bernice and Lee Hinds of Nevis; a sister-in-law, Marion Clobes of Fairfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Valeria Clobes; brother, Ray Clobes; and by brothers-in-law, Orville Hauge, Hilarius and Herbert Schaeffler.

Lloyd Harold Clobes was born Dec. 24, 1925 in Long Beach, Calif. to Armin and Mabel (Berger) Clobes. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. Lloyd was united in marriage to Valeria Schaeffler on Nov. 3, 1948 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they resided in Lafayette where he owned and operated Lloyd's Feed Service for 43 years until he retired in 1992. After retirement, he helped his son Allan farm for many years. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, camping, card playing and was very active in New Ulm bowling leagues from 1957 to 2010.

Lloyd was a member of the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
