Fire burns hoop barn in rural New Ulm

December 17, 2012
The Journal

RURAL NEW ULM - A fire started in a hoop barn at Roger Mohr farm around 2 p.m. on Saturday in rural New Ulm. The fire, which occurred at 10534 County Road 24, destroyed 150 to 200 bales of cord and chopped straw in the structure. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but the owner suspects a machine chopping straw caused a spark that ignited the surrounding straw. The tarp and straw were destroyed in the fire, but the hoop supports might be saved.
