NEW ULM The New Ulm Library Board announced some brief updates during a meeting held Thursday at City Hall.
The merger of the circulation desk and the reference desk in the New Ulm Public Library is being completed. The move is aimed at dealing with staffing and cost concerns for the library. The Library has also reduced its evening staff of the circulation desk down from three employees to two employees. The move will result in cost saving for the Library and options to slightly increase staff during its 2013 Summer Reading Program.
The Library also announced the completion of the tiling project in the Library's meeting room. The project replaced two-thirds of the floor that was covered in deteriorating carpet. It cost $4,778 to complete.
Finally, the Library announced its holiday hours schedule. On Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, the Library will close at 1:30 p.m. and remain closed through the following Christmas Day. On Dec. 31, New Year's Eve, the Library will close at 5 p.m. and remain closed through New Year's Day.
