SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team trailed by just three at halftime, but was outscored 34-17 in the second half in a 62-42 loss at Dordt on Monday.
The Knights, playing their third game in five days, kept things close in the first half despite shooting 8-for-24 from the field, as they held Dordt to 38.5 percent shooting and forced 14 turnovers.
The Knights struggled to gain any traction on the offensive end in the second half. MLC turned the ball over 18 times and finished 7-for-32 from the field in the final 20 minutes, helping Dordt start the second half on a 22-5 run to build its lead to 20 points and take control of the game the rest of the way.
Alex Anthon finished as the Knights' leading scorer with 12 points on 5-7 shooting. Rebecca Engelbrecht joined her in double figures with 11 points.
MLC (1-8) will return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Wartburg.
