Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes pays dividends

December 10, 2012
The Journal

Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes & Cremation Services recently paid dividends of more than $32,000 to members who had services in 2001, according to General Manager Bruce Savoy.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes is a non-profit cooperative that pays any and all profits back to the people who have used their services in the form of a dividend.

The cooperative recently purchased the former Schmucker Funeral Service located at 600 S. Broadway in New Ulm, which is now the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes, South Chapel. It also has funeral home establishments in Gibbon, Nicollet and Hanska.

The cooperative is overseen by a seven-member board of directors. Its day-to-day operation is headed by Savoy and licensed directors, David Goplin, Peter Macho and Nicole Frisk.

With the purchase of the additional location in New Ulm, Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes plans to hire another full-time licensed funeral director in the near future.
