St. Nicholas, whose feast day is celebrated on Dec. 6, hands a candy cane to Greta Berger, 2 of New Ulm as her sister Sophie, 4, watches with anticipation at the New Ulm Event Center on Wednesday. St. Nicholas is known for gift giving. His sidekick, Krumpus, who also attended the event, has been known to give children a stick or a lump of coal if they have not behaved. The annual event was sponsored by the New Ulm Business and Retail Association.
