NEW ULM - Kenneth "Kenny" Freiderich, 85, of New Ulm died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Anthony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Freiderich of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Norman Wieland of Hackensack, Claudia and Mark Gleisner of Gibbon; son, Brian Freiderich of West Concord; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Loretta Freiderich of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Priscilla "Percy" Anderson; parents; six brothers; three sisters; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Kenneth James Freiderich was born June 2, 1927 in New Ulm to William and Theresa (Gulden) Freiderich. He attended New Ulm Public High School. After high school, Kenny served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946. On Jan. 24, 1948, Kenny was united in marriage to Dorothy Zangel in New Ulm. He worked as the chief boiler operator at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 30 years until retiring in 1987. Kenny enjoyed gardening, wood carving, hunting, fishing, and sharing good times at the cabin with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Patrick's Council Knights of Columbus, and the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to NUACS and The Way of the Cross.
