ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team was picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll voted on by the coaches around the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
MLC is hoping that a talented group of incoming players along with a group of experienced veterans can push them out of the bottom half of the standings and towards its goal of returning to the UMAC Tournament.
Bethany Lutheran finished first in the poll with 48 total points, including six of a possible eight first place votes. Northwestern was second with 44 total points and two first place votes.
Rounding out the poll in order were St. Scholastica (37 points), Crown College (27), the University of Minnesota, Morris (24), North Central (18), Northland (11) and MLC (10).
