WINTHROP - After a bit of a slow start, No. 2 seeded Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop did not have any problems with No. 7 seeded Yellow Medicine East, sweeping it 25-18, 25-17, 25-11 in a Section 3AA, North Sub-Section playoff volleyball match.
GFW committed some unforced errors in the beginning of the first set which allowed YME to match it point for point. With the score tied 10-10, the Thunderbirds went on a 10-1 run to take control of the set, and they went on to take set one 25-18.
"I think we somewhat overlooked (YME), but we finished strong and that's all that matters," GFW senior Eve Bleick said.
