To the editor:
I was very pleased that the Journal in New Ulm endorsed Gary Dahms for re-election to the Minnesota State Senate from our district.
I have known Gary Dahms for over twenty years, going back to the days when I lived in Sanborn. When the senate seat opened up with the retirement of Dennis Frederickson two years ago, I was one of the many encouraging Gary to run for the seat. He has not disappointed the people of our District.
My early impression of Gary was that he was committed to the area, competent in what he did, and with a strong desire to help in whatever way he could to further the causes of important community organizations. Over the years of our acquaintance and friendship, my opinion of Gary has not changed.
Gary has lived in our region all his life. He was born and raised in Clements, graduated from Redwood Falls High School, and owned and operated the Dahms Insurance Agency for twenty-five years. He has been married to his wife, Barb, for 36 years and has two grown children.
In his first two years in the State Senate, Gary was part of the solution that turned a $5.2 billion deficit into a $1.2 billion surplus. Through Gary?s hard work ethic, he is part of the solution of moving towards a even more prudent, efficient government for all of us in Minnesota.
Please join me in returning Gary Dahms to the Minnesota State Senate in District 16.
