MANKATO - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team played Bethany Lutheran even for a half, but fell victim to a scoring barrage by the Vikings in the second half in a 6-1 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference loss Tuesday night.
BLC started to roll offensively in the second half, scoring in the 55th minute and then scoring four more times in the next 20 minutes to take a 5-0 lead.
Lauren Maertz scored the lone MLC goal, her seventh on the season, off a pass from Alison Filter.
Bethany Schultz finished with a team-high three shots, two of which were on net. Maertz and Emily Marggraf also had two shots on goal for the Knights.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in UMAC play. MLC returns to action at 3:30 p.m. Friday when it travels to North Central.
