To the editor:
We in southern Minnesota have a clear choice between two very different candidates for Congress in the 1st District this year.
On the one hand, we have Allen Quist who, in my opinion, doesn't represent southern Minnesota values. Quist's extreme positions on everything from the Farm Bill to women's rights to deficit reduction will do nothing but add to the division and partisanship in Washington. Quist's views are so out-of-touch he's been called Michele Bachmann's mentor. Southern Minnesotans can't afford to have an extreme partisan like Allen Quist in Congress.
Tim Walz, on the other hand, is working to get things done in a bipartisan manner and brings southern Minnesota values to Washington. Several of his bills, including the STOCK Act, have become law this year because he was able to reach across the aisle. I'll be proud to vote for Walz in November.
