Springfield clinches Tomahawk title

Springfield 3, BLHS 1

STEWART-The Springfield Tigers swept Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 Tuesday night in Tomahawk Conference prep volleyball action.

The wins means the Tigers clinched the Tomahawk Conference title.

For the Tigers, Tiffany Schwanke was 23-for-23 serving with four aces and 15 kills. Shelby Schultz was 15-for-15 serving with two aces and 37 set assists and Morgan Hansen had 22 kills and three aces. Casey Kretsch had 32 digs.

Maddie Ludowese led the Mustangs with 14-for-14 serving, two blocks and one dig. Hannah VanderVoort was 13-for-17 serving, and seven digs. Becca Ebbers had seven digs.

Springfield (19-3, 8-0) will play in the Subway Classic Friday and Saturday in Marshall. BLHS (7-13-1) hosts Sleepy Eye Tuesday.

Madelia 3, ML/GHEC 0

MADELIA-Kayla McCabe recorded her 1,000th career dig and Haley Reed got her 500th career kill as Madelia swept Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 Tuesday night in Valley Conference prep volleyball action.

Katie Osborne had 10 digs, six kills and four ace serves for the Blackhawks. Emily Koehler had 17 set assists, and Taylor Thomas had 15 set assists. McCabe had 20 digs and Reed had 13 kills.

Madelia (12-11, 5-4) travels to Truman to play the Bluejays Thursday.

GFW 3, Sleepy Eye 0

SLEEPY EYE - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop swept Sleepy Eye 25-7, 25-15, 25-22 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball Tuesday.

For the Indians, Claire Krumbach and Sam Krebsbach each had five kills and Krumbach had eight digs. Miranda McMullen finished with 11 set assists.

For the Thunderbirds, Erin McDurmont had 11 kills and six blocks and Edie Beranek had eight kills and 15 digs. Morgan Wenninger had 18 set assists and Sydney Fromm had 14 set assists and 17 digs.

GFW (15-7, 6-2) competes at the Subway Classic on Friday and Sleepy Eye (4-15, 2-5) is at BLHS on Thursday.

Wabasso 3, Willmar 2

WABASSO - Wabasso defeated the Willmar Cardinals 25-17, 16-25, 25-22, 8-25, 15-9 in non-conference volleyball action Tuesday.

Kim Frank led the Rabbits with 20-for-22 serving, three aces and 20 set assists.

Wabasso (14-4, 6-2) will travel to Marshall to play in the Subway Classic Friday and Saturday.
