Turnovers costly for Eagles

Waseca 55, New Ulm 8

WASECA - New Ulm's five turnovers in the first half were costly as Waseca took the win Friday during a South Central Conference football game.

Waseca was up 42-0 at half-time. No other stats were available for Waseca.

New Ulm's Brian Dewanz had 10 carries for 41 yards and Isaiah Johnson added a touchdown for 27 yards.

New Ulm (1-5 overall, 1-3 in SCC action) will host Melrose Friday.

RRC 42, BLHS 0

LAMBERTON-The Red Rock Central Falcons defeated Bluffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday night in Southern Minnesota Conference football action.

Jeff Decock led the Falcons with 67 yards rushing and one touchdown. He had 164 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He also returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown. Brady Bierl passed for a touchdown.

Mitchell Schroepfer rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown and Dillion Benson and Bierl also rushed for a touchdown each.

The Mustangs rushed for 143 yards and were led by Tate Lange's 76 yards on the ground.

BLHS (1-6) hosts Wabasso Friday night while RRC (5-2) travels to face New Ulm Cathedral at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Maple River 29, GFW 8

MAPLETON - Maple River defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Gopher Valley 2A Conference game Friday.

Maple River had 329 total offense yards. No other stats were available.

GFW had a total of 235 yards on offense with 183 rushing yards and 52 passing yards.

GFW's Tristan Schmidt led the defense with 14 total tackles and one sack. Manny Randle had one interception and Tony Weber had 91 yards on 25 carries. Weber also added a three-yard rushing touchdown.

GFW (1-5 overall) will host Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Friday.

Nicollet 33, JWP 30

JANESVILLE - Nicollet's Dalton Elliott was big on both sides of the ball, leading the Raiders to a Southern Confederacy football win Friday night over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

Elliott passed for 177 yards and threw for two touchdowns. He also rushed 37 times for 284 yards and he accounted for 461 yards of total offense. The Raiders amassed 555 yards of total offense for the game.

Evan Guffey had four catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Lucas Gens also recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Raiders.

Defensively, Elliott had nine tackles and Matt Christenson had seven tackles. Guffey and Tanner Elliott also had nine tackles each. Kenny Fischer had an interception, including one late in the game when the Bulldogs were driving and the Raiders were able to run out the clock. Jay Hendrycks also picked off two passes.

Nicollet (6-0) hosts Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Friday.

New Ulm Cathedral 38, Cedar Mountain-Comfrey 18

MORGAN - The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 38-18 in Southern Minnesota Conference prep football action Friday night.

Adam Schnobrich led the Greyhounds offense with 15 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Stadick had 11 carries for 99 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Cooper rushed 10 times for 111 yards and had one touchdown.

Ben Kittler led the Greyhounds on defense with 16 tackles and one interception. Nick Larson and Brandon Beranek had 13 tackles each.

New Ulm Cathedral (4-2) hosts Red Rock Central (4-2) in a conference match-up at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
