NEW?ULM - The League of Women Voters of New Ulm is sponsoring three forums to allow voters to get to know local candidates.
The first forms will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9. It will focus on the District 16 legislative races. Candidates for the District 16 senate, Gary Dahms, and Ted L. Suss, as well as the three candidates vying for the house seat, Jerry "Pike" Pagel, Paul Torkelson and James Kanne will answer questions from the live audience as well as call-in questions. Call in questions will be taken at 359-8399
The forums will be televised on nuCAT and broadcast on KNUJ radio. They will be held at City Hall in New Ulm, 100 N. Broadway, beginning at 7 p.m.
The forum on Tuesday, Oct. 16 will focus on the candidates for New Ulm City Council. Candidates for the at-large position are Ron Larsen and Charles Schmitz.
Candidates for Ward 1 are Joel Boehlke and Ruth Ann Webster.
Ward 3 candidates are Chuck Hanson and Les P. Schultz.
The forum on Tuesday, Oct. 23 will allow the public to meet the candidates for District 88 School Board.
Due to football payoffs this forum will be rebroadcast on KNUJ, Wednesday Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.
There are eight candidates seeking four open positions. They are Matt Ringhofer, Sharon P. Gieseke, Chris Cook, Jerod Spilman, Patricia Hoffman, Jill Hulke, Dennis R. Waloch, and Rebecca Fliszar
