HANSKA - Gordy Bau has been serving Alliance Bank as vice president and manager of the Hanska branch since July 16.

Bau, a native of Truman and the Madelia area, attended the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in agriculture economics, and he has been working in ag credit ever since. He was president of the Farmers & Merchants Bank in Austin for 11 years before moving to this area.

He saw an opportunity here to work with a bank "that wants to grow." Bau said he has known the Reim family, which owns Alliance Bank, and has a mutual friend of New Ulm Alliance Bank President Bob Reuter.

"It's been going very well," said Bau. "I've been meeting customers, getting out on the farm."

Bau said that is a part of the job he enjoys - getting out and talking to people.

Bau and his wife have four adult children and four grandchildren. His wife, Jan, is working for the Mower County Sheriff's Office in the Civil Process Division. She will mark her 30th anniversary there in November, Gordy said.
