NEW ULM - The last edition of the New Ulm Pioneer ever printed on August 16, 1862, had a listing for "evening entertainment and dance in Union Halle (the current site of the Grand Hotel) to be held on Sunday, August 24, 1862. Admission ten cents, women free."
Due to the attacks in New Ulm on Aug. 19 and 23, the evening was cancelled.
The Grand Center for Arts & Culture (GCAC) is now hosting the evening that never happened 150 years later.
