Leo T. Stadick of Downers Grove, Ill., and formerly of Searles. passed away on Sept. 4, 2012.
Leo was born in Sigel Township on Dec. 8, 1914 to John T. and Emelia (Janni) Stadick. He attended District 68 School. In January of 1942, Leo was drafted into the United States Army Air Force and immediately reported to Fort Snelling.
After basic training, he was assigned to the USAF Air Base in Miami, Fla., where he trained as a medical technician. His unit was responsible for ferrying transport aircraft to bases in North Africa, the Mediterranean, and European Theaters. His service included the campaigns of Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno-Southern France, Rhineland and Northern Apennines. After his honorable discharge as a corporal in Sept 1945, he moved to Chicago where he was employed by Standard Oil and the U.S. Postal Service.
In 1955 he married Mary Roney in Chicago. He is survived by numerous nieces & nephews and close friend Dr. John Gammuto.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2000; sisters, Caroline, Jennie (Joe) Tauer, Mame (Charles) Waibel; brothers Herman. Louis, John, Theodore, Conrad and Benno.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4801 Main Street. Downers Grove, Ill. at 10 a.m. Private interment at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien Ill.
