River Valley 5, Marshall 2
MARSHALL - The River Valley girls tennis team defeated Marshall 5-2 on Thursday.
River Valley picked up a win in No. 2 singles as Becky Roiger won 6-2, 7-5 and Lauren Laffen won at No. 3 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
River Valley swept doubles, as Emily Johnson and Kalyn Haas won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, Marlayna Evers and Erika Ries won at No. 2 doubles 7-5, 6-3, and Alex Chaney and Alyssa Rubey won at No. 3 by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
River Valley improves to 7-8 on the year and will participate in a tournament in Madison on Saturday.
St. Peter blanks New Ulm in tennis
ST. PETER - St Peter defeated New Ulm 7-0 in South Central Conference girls tennis action Thursday.
At first singles, Maya Sarkar lost 6-0, 6-2 and Miriam Jakel lost 6-1, 6-1 at second singles. Gracelyn Sarkar lost 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 at third singles and Taylor Bolduan lost 6-1, 6-0.
The Eagles also lost all three matches in doubles action. New Ulm plays Waseca on Monday in a match that was suspended by rain two weeks ago.
