ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost the first set before rolling to a 3-1 win at Macalester by the scores of 21-25, 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16 on Tuesday.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the game, but the Scots made a run in the middle of the set to take a 1-0 lead over MLC after one set.
MLC got back on track in the second game, taking the second game 25-18, and then cruising to win the final two sets by the scores of 25-11 and 25-16.
The Knights were strong all night on the attack, hitting .301 for the match. Setter Miranda Maasz had a big night, finishing with 41 assists. Rachel Hein and Rebecca Engelbrecht led the way with 14 kills apiece, while Leah Nass and Heather Danell each added seven.
Defensively, Hein had five of 16 MLC blocks. Jennifer Draeger led the back row players with 13 digs from her libero position.
MLC improved to 6-7 on the season with the win.
The conference season will start on Friday when the Knights host Minnesota, Morris for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
