Mike Hillesheim, age 57 of Springfield, died Sunday, September 16, 2012, at his daughter's home in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, from 4-7p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 4p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date.

Michael Arnold Hillesheim was born December 13, 1954, in Ramsey County, Minnesota. Mike was adopted by Arnold and Marie Hillesheim and graduated from Springfield High School in 1974. He then attended Willmar Vo-Tech for 2 years before working at Sanborn Manufacturing Company for 13 years. Mike then worked at AUI, now Bic, in Sleepy Eye for over 20 years. He was united in marriage to Muriel Trebesch in December of 1974. To this union was born 4 children Melonie, Mandy, Martin, and Matt. Mike was a member of the Springfield Fire Department for 24 years and served as an EMT for the Springfield Ambulance for 12 years. He married Nitsa DeLechuga on December 27, 2007. Mike was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, grilling, golfing, camping, and watching the Minnesota Twins.

He is survived by parents, Arnold and Marie Hillesheim of Springfield; children, Melonie (Jeff) Heiling of Springfield, Mandy (Chris) Rosengren of Mankato, Martin (Hannah) Hillesheim of Springfield, and Matt (Christina) Hillesheim of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; sister Mary Kay Kieper of Springfield; brother Mark (partner Kevin) Hillesheim of Minneapolis; stepsons, Raymond Hendricks of Chicago, James Pena of Chicago, Daniel Pena of St. Cloud, and Joseph Pena of Springfield; and his dog and best friend Miss Lillie.

He was preceded in death by wife Nitsa in 2010.
