OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team won both its matches Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic, beating Concordia University-Wisconsin 3-0 and then topping Lawrence 3-1.
Against Concordia, the Knights were led by Rebecca Engelbrecht 11 kills. Engelbrecht added eight digs, while Jenn Draeger also finished with eight digs. Miranda Maasz had a team-best 23 assists and Rachel Hein led the front-row defense with five blocks.
Th Knights loss the first game to Lawrence, but won the next three to win the match in four.
Maasz had 40 assists in the match, setting up both Hein and Engelbrecht with 13 kills. Engelbrecht also added 15 digs, while back-row players Alex Anthon and Jennifer Draeger had 20 and 15 digs, respectively.
With the two wins, MLC improved to 5-7 on the season. The Knights will close the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday when they play at Macalester in a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
