NICOLLET - Jerald "Pete" Volk, 74, of Nicollet died Thursday, Sept. 13 at his home in Nicollet.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Ron Siemers officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Post #510 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4-7 pm Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. To sign the guest book, or to leave an online condolence for his family go to www.mvfh.org.

Pete is survived by his wife, Diane Volk of Nicollet; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Connie Volk of Mankato, Jon and Kim Volk of New Ulm; grandchildren, Dylan Volk, Hannah Volk, Gunner Volk, Hunter Volk; sister, Janice Wagner of Nicollet; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Vicky Volk of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Sandy Volk of Kasota, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Dale Selby of Nicollet. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Volk; brother-in-law, Dick Wagner; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Milton and LaVone Johnson.

Jerald Reinhard Volk was born Oct. 25, 1937 in Nicollet to Reinhard and Eunice (Roberts) Volk. He attended Nicollet High School and graduated with the class of 1955. In February 1957, Pete joined the United States Air Force and served until February 1963. On Oct. 13, 1962 he was united in marriage with Diane Johnson in Nicollet. Pete worked as a truck driver and maintenance man for HoneyMead until his retirement in June 2000. He was a member of American Legion Post #510 in Nicollet, the Nicollet Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years, the Nicollet Conservation Club, and was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Pete enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family, but most of all he enjoyed helping people.
