Bucs sweep New Ulm in SCC

BEA 3, New Ulm 0

BLUE EARTH - Blue Earth Area swept the New Ulm Eagles Thursday 25-10, 26-24, 25-23.

Briana Sieve had 19 digs for the Eagles and Alley Grejtak added eight kills, seven digs and 12 set assists.

New Ulm (1-4 overall, 1-2 in conference) will travel Saturday to Farmington for a tournament.

Nicollet 3, Cleveland 0

NICOLLET - Nicollet swept Cleveland 26-24, 25-22, 25-20 in a Valley Conference volleyball match on Thursday.

The Raiders were led on offense by Katelyn Skrien and Carissa Woller with six kills each, while Woller also recorded seven blocks.

Courtney Struss led Nicollet in digs with 15, while Skrien added seven digs.

Nicollet (1-4, 1-1) plays again next Tuesday at Maple River.

TCU 3, Sibley East 0

GAYLORD - Tri-City United swept Sibley East Thursday in a Minnesota River Conference volleyball match-up 25-12, 25-21, 25-19.

Autumn Dose led Sibley East with eight kills and Megan Eckberg added four kills. Shelby Voight had 13 digs and Jordan Thomas added eight digs and two kills.

Sibley East (2-5-1 overall, 0-2 in MRC) will host Belle Plaine for a conference match Thursday.

BLHS 3, CMC 0

MORGAN - Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart swept Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 25-23, 25-22, 26-24 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match-up on Thursday.

Mikayla Paulson led the Mustangs in kills with 13, while Hannah VanderVoort added seven kills. BLHS was led in digs by Becca Ebbers with five.

The Cougars were led by Brianna Lund with eight kills, while Emily Ochs added six. Andrea Ochs led the team with 21 digs as Emily Ochs added 10 digs.

BLHS plays on Tuesday at Wabasso, while CMC travels to play at Springfield Tuesday.

GFW 3 Wabasso 1

FAIRFAX - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop edged Wabasso 27-25, 9-25, 25-22, 25-22 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match-up Thursday.

GFW's Morgan Wenninger led with 12 kills, 21 set assists and four blocks. Sydney Fromm had 17 set assists with 15 blocks, while Edie Beranek added nine kills and 24 digs. Erin McDurmont had 10 kills and Eve Bleick had 17 blocks.

For Wabasso, Chelsey Guetter had 15 kills and Desi Kramer had 11 kills. Guetter also had 16 digs and Kim Frank finished with 11 digs and three blocks.

GFW (8-2 overall, 2-0 in conference) will play Tuesday at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's. Wabasso (4-1) hosts BLHS on Tuesday.

Cathedral 2

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's battled back after losing the first two sets of the match by winning the next three to defeat New Ulm Cathedral 19-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-7 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match on Thursday.

Maddy Helget led the Knights in kills with 15, while Lexi Fischer had 11 kills. Becca Schmitz and Deonna Brinkman had 10 and six blocks, respectively.

Lisa Helget and Kristin Mohr led the Greyhounds in kills with 16 and 11, respectively. Karlee Pfaff led the team with seven digs and MacKinnon Ehlenz added five digs.

St. Mary's (6-3-1, 2-0) plays next on Tuesday when it hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, while Cathedral (4-6, 0-3) doesn't play again until next Thursday when it hosts GFW.
