To the editor:
In response to all the "vote no" messages and signs on Facebook and elsewhere - you may think that by saying we all should vote "no" you are just voicing your opinion, to which you are entitled, and only commenting on a legal definition of what marriage is or should be.
Let me tell everyone what else you really said!
You've said to me, "You're rigid," "You're a bigot," "You're insensitive," "You're mean," "You're stupid," "You're a homophobe," and other things that can't be printed.
What do you think this does to to my heart and to my children's hearts to hear these messages directed at me? These are hurtful, personal comments to a fellow human being.
None of you have presented a scrap of logical argument; your only stated thought was "why not", so you resort to labelling.
Do you have the RIGHT to this kind of free speach? Absolutely. SHOULD you talk that way? Only is you are OK with hurting others.
Whether you vote 'yes' or 'no' or skip the question (same as voting no!) on Nov. 6 is between you and your conscience. But, please, make a thoughtful vote based on your observations and convictions, not because of fear and name-calling.
