Information sought in arson in Olivia

OLIVIA - A Sunday evening fire in Olivia that damaged a building housing a Renville County Food Shelf/ thrift store, the Red Cross, an apartment and a hair salon was arson, according to information from the Renville County Sheriff.

The fire was reported at 8:35 p.m. Several law enforcement agencies and fire departments from Olivia, Bird Island and Danube responded. The resident of the apartment escaped unharmed. The State Fire Marshal's Office was called, and it was determined that the fire was arson.

Anyone with information regarding this fire is encouraged to contact the Olivia Police Department, the Renville County Sheriff's Department or call the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020. Rewards are offered of up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification of person(s) responsible for this fire.

The Renville County Food Shelf will remain closed until further notice
