Janice was born on June 6, 1961, to Don and Delores Helget in Sleepy Eye, MN. She attended elementary school in St. George, and graduated from Cathedral High School in New Ulm in 1979. After graduation, she attended Mankato Community College. Janice married Dennis (Denny) Guldan on November 19, 1983 at the Cathedral in New Ulm. Together they lived and worked side-by-side on their farm in rural New Ulm where they weathered the ever-changing agricultural markets. After a couple years of experimenting in "non-conventional" methods, they shifted to 25 acres of vegetable production to earn their living; selling produce at area farmers' markets and a CSA program. During the off-season of the farm, she worked at an accounting office in New Ulm.

Janice truly cherished her family, often commenting that working alongside her family was the highlight of her occupation. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a strong believer in supporting a local economy and agriculture. She was an active volunteer at New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and her parish. Janice is remembered most as a loving wife and mother

Janice's remaining immediate family includes her husband, Denny; their two daughters, Emily and Samantha; and son, Tim, and his wife, Jenny; her parents, Don and Delores Helget; her brothers Jim, his friend Laurie, and Tom, and wife Sandy. Other remaining family members include her grandmother Mary Mathiowetz; mother-in-law Delores; sister-in-law Judy (Terry); brothers-in-law, Mike (Ann), Jim (Brenda), Steve (Anna-Martha), Tom (Bonnie), Jon (Julie), and Shelley; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Members of Janice's family no longer among us include their infant son, Mathew; father-in-law, Dennis; and sister-in-law, Jean.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be give to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools.
