Springfield 26, RRC 0

LAMBERTON - Springfield blanked Red Rock Central Friday in a Southern Minnesota Conference football game.

Springfield scored all four touchdowns in the first half of Friday's game. Brian Thoreson had a 53-yard run and a three-yard run for touchdowns. Zach Wells had a two-yard run and Cole Milbrath caught a 50-yard pass from Jake Manage.

Thoreson had 14 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns.The Tigers' defense was led by Trevor Vanderwerf with nine tackles. Lance Briard added six tackles and had one fumble recovery. Springfield's defense held RRC to 28 yards rushing and 61 yards passing.

No stats were available for RRC.

Springfield (2-0) hosts Cedar Mountain-Comfrey Friday.


WINTHROP - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop snapped a 18-game losing streak, defeating New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Granada Friday 20-7 in Gopher Valley Conference 2A football action Friday.

GFW's Frank Fairchild had 109 yards rushing with 16 carries, and rushed for one touchdown. Tony Weber had nine tackles, two sacks, and carried the ball 27 times for 122 rushing yards. Weber had two rushing touchdowns.

GFW's offense had a total of 332 yards. 61 yards were passing and 271 yards were rushing.

NRHEG had a total of 164 yards. 71 yards were rushing and 93 yards were passing.

GFW (1-1) will travel to Medford Friday.

Wabasso 37, CM/C 18

MORGAN - Wabasso defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in Southern Minnesota Conference football action Friday.

Blake Altermatt led the Rabbits with 197 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The Rabbits led 16-12 at halftime.

For the Cougars, Riley Kerkhoff had 222 yards passing and three touchdowns. Josh Green had an 11-yard touchdown reception and Sam Pendleton had 116 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Wabasso (1-1) hosts Red Rock Central on Friday and CM/C (1-1) is at Springfield on Friday.

St. Peter 41, New Ulm 0

ST. PETER - St. Peter had no problems as it defeated New Ulm in South Central Conference football action Friday.

New Ulm did not report any statistics for the game. The Eagles (0-2) look to pick up their first win of the season when they host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at 2 p.m. Saturday.

NUC 54, BLHS 26

HECTOR - New Ulm Cathedral defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday in a Southern Minnesota Conference football game.

Cathedral's Austin Cooper had 16 carries for 178 yards with two touchdowns. Adam Schnobrich had 10 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown. Jake Stadick had 13 carries for 103 yards with three touchdowns.

Colin Helget threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Brandon Beranek was in on 15 tackles, Dan Hayes had 12 tackles and Nick Larson added 10 tackles.

Cathedral had a total of 406 yards rushing and a total of 481 yards offensively.

BLHS's Mason Clark led the Mustangs with 188 yards passing. Ryan Coulter had nine catches for 172 yards.

Cathedral (1-1) will host Sleepy Eye St. Mary's next Saturday.

St. Clair 20, MVL 13

ST. CLAIR - St. Clair defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in Gopher Valley football action Friday.

MVL did not report any statistics for the game. The Chargers host Mankato Loyola on Friday.
