Wabasso defeats Cathedral

Wabasso 3, Cathedral 1

WABASSO - Wabasso defeated New Ulm Cathedral 25-23, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball game on Thursday.

Desi Kramer led the Rabbits with 12 kills, while Chelsey Guetter recorded 10 kills. Kim Frank led the team with 12 digs, while Kramer and Guetter added 11 and 10 digs respectively.

The Greyhounds were led in kills by Anne Schwarz with six. Tori Zanke led the team with nine digs, while Carly Pfaff added seven digs.

Wabasso (3-0, 1-0) plays next on Monday at Renville County West, while Cathedral (0-3, 0-2) plays on Saturday at the Westbrook-Walnut Grove tournament.

Springfield 3,

Sleepy Eye 0

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield swept Sleepy Eye 25-12, 25-15, 25-14 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match on Thursday.

Morgan Hansen led the Tigers with 17 kills and nine digs. Tiffany Schwanke led the team with three aces, while adding 12 kills and eight digs. Shelby Schultz finished with 38 set assists.

Sleepy Eye was led by Claire Krumbach, who had six kills. Miranda McMullen had 11 set assists.

Springfield hosts Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Monday, while Sleepy Eye next plays at the Sleepy Eye Invitational on Saturday.

BLHS 3, MVL 1

HECTOR - Buffalo-Lake Hector-Stewart defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-11 in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match-up.

The Mustangs were led on offense by Carley Klabunde and Mikayla Paulson with eight kills each. Maddie Ludowese led the team in digs with six.

No stats were available for MVL.

BLHS plays on Saturday at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Invitational, while MVL plays at the Mankato West Invitational on Saturday.

GFW 3, CMC 0

COMFREY - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Cedar Mountain-Comfrey 25-18, 25-20, and 25-16 Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference match.

GFW's Eve Bleick had 14 digs and Edie Beranek added eight kills. Erin McDurmont had seven kills. Morgan Wenninger had 10 digs, 11 set assists, and five kills. Sydney Fromm added 10 digs and 11 set assists.

CMC's Emily Ochs had 14 digs and four kills, and Andrea Ochs added 11 digs.

CMC (0-2 in conference) and GFW (1-0 in conference) will travel to Mankato West Saturday.
