GLENCOE - A 46-year-old Darwin man was transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale by Life Link Helicopter to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale early Sunday morning after long standoff with several law enforcement agencies near 145th St., about four miles southeast of Hutchinson.

The suspect, whose name was withheld by the McLeod County Sheriff's Office pending notification of next of kin, remains in critical condition at North Memorial, according to Chief Deputy Tim Langenfeld.

The sheriff's office responded to a call regarding shots fired at the residence at 12:27 p.m. Saturday.

"An adult female had barricaded herself in the house when shots were fired. They didn't hit anyone, but got us involved," Langenfeld said. "We got the woman out and were dealing with him (suspect) when he shot himself in the head with a shotgun."

Langenfeld said about 50 law enforcement personnel assisted the sheriff's office at the scene. They included Hutchinson and Bloomington Police, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Wright County Sheriff's Office, Hutchinson Fire Department, East Metro SWAT Team, Allina Ambulance, and Life Link Ambulance.
