Wabasso sweeps Cougars in Tomahawk

Wabasso 3, CMC 0

WABASSO - The Wabasso volleyball improved to 2-0 with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 sweep of Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

Chelsea Guetter led the way for Wabasso with seven kills. Ellen Franta added three services aces and Morgan Frank served two aces.

CMC got three kills from both Karliana Kelly and Courtney Nelson. Emily Ochs, Andrea Ochs, and Allison Madsen all had 11 digs. Erin Christensen and Madsen also pitched in five assists.

Wabasso improves to 2-0 and will host New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday. CMC falls to 1-2 and will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday.

GFW 3, EVW 2

WINTHROP - The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop volleyball team defeated visiting Eden Valley-Watkins 25-17, 17-25, 26-24, 17-25, 15-6.

Erin McDurmont had 18 kills and Edie Beranek added eight. Sydney Fromm led the way with 23 assists, while Morgan Wenninger added 18 assists. Beranek added 21 digs and Eve Bleick pitched in with 19 digs.

GFW improves to 2-0 and will face Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in Morgan on Thursday.

Madelia 3, JWP 0

MADELIA - Madelia defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 25-12, 25-20, 25-21 in a volleyball match on Tuesday evening.

Haley Reed led Madelia with ten kills and 14 digs. Emily Koehler had 19 assists and four aces, while Kayla McCabe had 17 digs.

Madelia (2-0) will travel to Sleepy Eye for the Sleepy Eye Invitational on Saturday.

Redwood Valley 3, New Ulm 0

REDWOOD FALLS - The New Ulm volleyball team was swept by Redwood Valley 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 on Tuesday.

Bree Friedman led New Ulm in assists with 11, while Briana Sieve added 11 digs. Lizzie Rummel had four aces and Sydney Schuck had three aces.

New Ulm (0-2) travels to play Fairmont on Thursday.
