New Ulm football loses to Belle Plaine

BELLE PLAINE - The New Ulm football team lost its season opener against Belle Plaine in a non-conference game on Thursday. Chris Mulder was 14-for-30 at quarterback for the Eagles and threw for 229 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Isaiah Johnson had two catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns for New Ulm. Sam Miller had two catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

New Ulm's leading rusher was Jackson Yackley, who ran for 106 yards over 27 carries. Grant Kannegiesser had 66 yards on two carries.

The Eagles will play on the road at St. Peter at 7 p.m. next Friday.
