PUC to consider worker grievance, bond declaration

August 28, 2012
The Journal

NEW ULM - The New Ulm Public Utilities will meet today at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The PUC will consider hearing the grievance appeal of an employee of the Water/Steam Department for May 2012 disciplinary actions. If the PUC chooses, it may adjourn to Sept. 20 to hear the grievance. The employee, who was demoted and had two previous appeals denied, also has the option to submit for arbitration if the grievance is unresolved within 10 days of the PUC meeting.

The PUC will also consider declaring its intent to pay for expenses with Tax Exempt General Obligation Public Utility Revenue Fund Bonds. The declaration allows the PUC to proceed with selling the bonds. The funds from the bonds could go towards a variety of projects, including the new water tower, pressure booster stations and upgrades of the water system.
