NEW ULM - Ronald 'Hound Dog" Johnson, 62, of New Ulm died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, Aug. 25 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Soldier's Rest section of the New Ulm City Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday and 7:30-8:30 am Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. To sign the guest book or to leave an online condolence for his family go to www.mvfh.org.

Ronald is survived by his wife, LeAnn Johnson of New Ulm; mother, Verna Johnson of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Tim Wolle of Butterfield and their children, Baily Davis, Trevor Davis, and Noah Wolle, Aimee and Jason Schwartz of Springfield and their children, Ethan Johnson, Jacob Schwartz, and Jonathon Schwartz, Bridget and Scott Melvin of Glenwood, Iowa and their children Tiffany, Shawn and Brad Melvin, Jennifer and Andres Gropp of Germany and their children, Christopher, Juliann and Matthew Gropp; sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew Johnson of New Ulm, Steven and Carrie Rotering of Amery, Wisconsin and their children, Joey and Amber Rotering; step-daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Dave Kotten of Sleepy Eye and their children, Josh, Justin, and Jeniffer Kotten; step-son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Wendy Lang of Courtland and their children, Samantha Cooper, Daniel Cooper, Alex Lang, and Alazia Bauer; sister and brother-in-law, Jana and Dan Helget of Courtland; brother and sister-in-law, Kendall and Barb Johnson of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Johnson; and brother, Vaughn Johnson.
Ronald Keith Johnson was born Aug. 28, 1949 in New Ulm to Arnold and Verna (Lindmeyer) Johnson. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School until 8th grade and graduated from New Ulm High School. After high school, Ronald attended Mankato Vo-Tech for two years. Ronald was united in marriage to LeAnn Lang on Aug. 12, 1980 in New Ulm. He was an avid fisherman and collector of Dodge muscle cars. He loved his dogs, his birds, CB radios, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Ronald was a member of the Brown County Pigeon and Poultry Society, the Minnesota Budgie Society, and the American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm.
