GIBBON - Lorence Schroeder, 80, of Gibbon died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County with Pastor Harold Storm officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.
Lorence is survived by nieces and nephews, Darlene (Lowell) Briese, Harold and Lynn Schroeder, Dale and Kim Schroeder all of Gibbon, Alan and Marlene Youngblom of Lafayette; step-daughter and sons-in-law, Helen and Duane May of Stacyville, Iowa, and Tim Mack of Punta Gorda, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and June Schroeder of Gibbon; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, "Birdie" Schroeder on Sept. 24, 2006; step-daughter, Jan Mack; and a great grandson, Matthew Shanks.
Lorence Erwin Schroeder was born on May 1, 1932 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Erwin and Anna (Meyer) Schroeder. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. On Aug. 26, 1977 he was united in marriage to Birdien Elvira Tronson at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township.
Lorence farmed in Moltke Township until 1995 when he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lorence was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and the American Legion.
