NEW ULM - Allen Quist won in Brown County late Tuesday night in the 1st District congressional race with fellow Republican challenger Mike Parry. The two are vying for the GOP spot on the general election against Democratic incumbent Tim Walz
Quist received 532 votes, or 58.6 percent of the vote, while Parry had 375 votes, or 41.4 percent.
Brown County reported 1,340 voters participating in the primary out of 14,318 registered voters.
Voter turnout was 10.69 percent for the primary.
At this time, Quist is leading Parry in Minnesota's 1st Congressional District race. With 480 of 695 precincts reporting, Quist has 9,406 voters, or 54.4 percent, while Parry has 7,905, or 45.6 percent.
