SLEEPY EYE - Mary Ann P. Trebesch, 88, of Sleepy Eye, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.

Service will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Kevin Draper. Interment will be in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Mary Ann was born on October 12, 1923 in Mulligan Township to Albert and Josephine (Bergum) Olson. She was baptized on Nov. 4, 1923, at Albion Lutheran Church and was confirmed on June 6, 1937. Her father was killed in a farm accident when Mary Ann was five years old. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Walter "Wally" Trebesch on Nov. 4, 1945 at Albion Lutheran Church. She was blessed with four children, David, Gayle, Brenda and Richard. Before marriage Mary Ann worked for the Herald Dispatch as a reporter. Later she worked for Moorman Mfg. Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1990. During the years when her children were growing up, her energies were directed toward things that would benefit youth. She was a 4-H leader for 20 years, treasurer of Brown County 4-H Federation, president of St. John's PTO and Sleepy Eye Public School PTA. She served on the Sleepy Eye Public School Community Education committee and Agricultural committee. She was active at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as an officer of St. John's Ladies Aid. She was a commissioner at Ross Park Apartments for 20 years, member of GFWC Sleepy Eye Women's Club, Sleepy Eye Student Foreign Exchange committee, Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce, Sleepy Eye Golf Club and past president of the Sleepy Eye Historical Society. She was an alumnus of the Blandin Community Leadership program. In 1995 Wally and Mary Ann received the Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce Award and in 1999 she was named Brown County Outstanding Citizen. Her hobbies included her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, writing, golf, reading and traveling.

She is survived by her children, David (Janice) Trebesch of Hudson, WI, Gayle Trebesch of Minneapolis, Brenda Trebesch of St. Paul and Richard (Connie) Trebesch of rural Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Cole (Miranda) Trebesch and children, Oliver Cole and Elsie Ruth of rural Sleepy Eye, Sarah (Matt) Feucht and sons, Wyatt Lee and Ethan William of Winthrop, Hannah Trebesch of Sleepy Eye, Evan and Eleanor Heberlein of St. Paul; step grandchildren, Sherryl (Michael) Frederick and sons, Jonathan and Jason of Hammond, WI, Michael (Theresa) Blok and daughter, Amanda of Frederick, WI and Jennifer (Thomas) LaTour of St. Paul. In exchange for not having siblings, the Hendrickson cousins were especially precious.
